Chemours Chemical Engineer in Fayetteville, North Carolina

The Chemours Fayetteville Works facility located in Fayetteville, NC, has a chemical engineer position available. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Ion Exchange Materials business function. This position will report to the Ion Exchange Materials Technology Manager.

The engineer will serve as the chemical engineer supporting the Dispersion contract manufacturing operation with our client located in Louisiana. The position will be located at the FW site with routine travel (up to 25%) to the client. The engineer will work directly with the client to improve quality, yield, reliability, uptime, and capacity to meet growing market needs. Involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting to ensure safe, continuous operation is a must. The engineer will also provide process support for process equipment startups, test runs, and special procedures as needed. The client employs their own local technical team, but this Chemours resource will play a vital role in guiding and driving improvement.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as the chemical engineering resource for the IXM Dispersions product line. This product is manufactured by our client in Louisiana.

  • Monitors product and process performance as needed; assessing reliability of operations, identifying failures and causes of failures, and recommending and assisting client in implementing solutions to drive continuous improvement.

  • Use of Six Sigma methodology to evaluate process and equipment data to identify and drive process improvements.

  • Provide technical support required to maintain day-to-day production activities.

  • Assist client in supplier corrective action request (quality) investigations.

  • Travel to client (up to 25%) to drive capacity and quality related improvements.

  • Maintain strong connection to business contract manufacturing manager to drive supplier performance improvements.

In order to be qualified for this role, you //must possess// the following:

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering

  • 5+ Years manufacturing experience

  • Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) background

  • Strong background in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with strong customer focus and ability to conceptualize customer needs based on customer input. Proven ability to effectively communicate through all levels of an organization.

  • High degree of initiative and flexibility to move projects forward safely and in a timely manner

  • Strong scientific approach to solving problems/troubleshooting – makes data-based decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment

The following skill sets are //preferred// by the business unit:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification (preferred) or demonstrated statistical analysis/control experience
